We provide counseling for children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families from anxiety to trauma and stress related disorders. We utilize a variety of different theoretical orientations to guide our sessions with our clients. This is more of an eclectic approach. We are not limited to one theoretical framework. Collectively, we have experience in Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person Centered, and Family Systems to name a few.
We also provide faith based counseling for those interested in incorporating their faith into their treatment.
What to expect:
Our first session will be used to gather some background information – possibly brief history of your childhood, substance abuse history, past trauma, prior behavioural health challenges, family dynamics, and current life situation. We hope to establish a basic understanding of what you are seeking help for, and potentially establish some treatment goals for therapy.
Therapy is usually terminated whenever you, the client, and your therapist decide you no longer need to continue. It is your right to discontinue therapy at any time. For some, therapy could be a life-long process used to maintain positive mental health and support or it can be a limited duration where we work to treat a specific symptom or issue. Please note that therapy is most effective when it builds off the previous session. For this reason, therapy is best scheduled weekly, especially in the first couple of months.
“Life is a succession of lessons which must be lived to be understood.”
